A travelers tale: the north explainedWhat this motel has done for me is truly incredible. I can honestly say it changed my life in a way I that I cant quite put into writing. When all was dark at the end of a long journey this beacon of hope welcomed me with a beautiful and warm display of love and kindness. When I finally put my head to rest after the northern lights, it was as if I was floating upon the wingtips of the angels. The sleeping sanctuary seemed crafted by the handiwork of divinity. I will never forget this beacon of light and hope in an otherwise dark and cold place. All in all great place! 5 stars from me. Would recommend.

This place is a dump, filthy rooms, poor air conditioning, slow internet that costs $10 per gigabyte; shuts on and off constantly, located in a high crime area, constantly harassed by drunks. A dump like this should be charging 10 dollars a night instead of 120. Avoid this dump at all costs!

Memoirs of an American Nomad: The Journey North.Thousands of years ago when the brave explorers discovered the "great white north" and stumbled upon the now wonderful town of Yellowknife, one solitary structure stood erect amongst the dark sea of pine; bathed in the lofty light of the divine, The Northern Lites Motel welcomed me in from the cold windy night. As I crossed the threshold, a warm waft of air swept over me and carried me into an unexplainable ecstasy. Here I was home. Laying in the bed i tossed and turned all night, but not out of nerves or discomfort, but with laughter. How could i sleep in the midst of angles. The wonderfully talented and charming desk clerk knocked on our door every 30 minutes with questions about our stay and if we needed some warm milk. Timwerd, you've done enough for a life time.Sincerely, La mujer de pene.

Desk clerk was nice, and open past midnight. Otherwise, not a whole lot going for it. Room looked fairly clean, but beaten up. Wifi was so slow I switched back to data. Could hear people upstairs quite clearly. Probably will avoid this one in the future.

Service is okay, but the neighbourhood is not suitable for families or most people for that matter. Price is reasonable I guess. Overall its not that bad, just expect to get what you pay for, and most importantly don't let this ruin your Yellowknife experience. Go for something a little more pricier to get the true north experience.
